1. Overview
Memspace is a Chrome browser extension developed by Gnaritas. It lets you capture web page content, build a personal knowledge library, and chat with the Gnowbot AI assistant — all from a browser side panel.
This policy describes what data Memspace collects, how it is used, and how it is protected. By installing and using Memspace you agree to these practices.
2. Data we collect
Memspace collects the following categories of data:
Authentication credentials
Your Gnaritas subscription key is stored locally in Chrome’s browser storage (chrome.storage.local) and is sent with every request to the Gnaritas API to authenticate your session. It is never shared with any third party.
Personal profile information
The Settings panel lets you optionally provide your display name, job title, company, and a short “about me” bio. This information is transmitted to and stored on Gnaritas servers so that Gnowbot can personalize its responses to you.
Captured web content
When you explicitly trigger a capture — either by clicking the “Page” button or using the keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+S — Memspace takes a screenshot of the selected area or visible page and records the page URL and title. This data is transmitted to and stored on Gnaritas servers so you can query it later via Gnowbot.
Memspace does not passively monitor your browsing. Captures only occur when you intentionally trigger them.
Chat messages
Messages you send to Gnowbot, along with conversation history and any attached capture IDs, are transmitted to Gnaritas servers to generate AI responses. Conversation history is stored in your browser’s session storage and is cleared when you start a new session.
3. Data we do not collect
- We do not collect your full browsing history.
- We do not log keystrokes, mouse movements, or passive user activity.
- We do not collect health, financial, or payment information through the extension.
- We do not use cookies or third-party tracking.
- We do not use remote code execution (no
eval(), no externally loaded scripts).
4. How we use your data
Data collected by Memspace is used exclusively to:
- Authenticate your access to the Gnaritas API.
- Store and retrieve your captured web content in your personal Gnowbot knowledge library.
- Generate AI responses from Gnowbot that are personalized to you and grounded in your captures.
- Improve the Gnowbot service over time (aggregated, anonymized usage signals only).
We do not sell, rent, or transfer your data to third parties outside of the approved use cases required to operate the service.
5. Data storage and security
Your subscription key and UI preferences are stored locally in Chrome’s browser storage on your device. Captured content and profile information are stored on Gnaritas servers hosted in the United States. We use HTTPS for all data in transit.
6. Data retention
Captured content and profile data are retained on Gnaritas servers for as long as your account is active. You may delete individual captures at any time from within the extension. To request full account deletion, contact us at privacy@gnaritas.com.
7. Permissions
Memspace requests the following Chrome permissions and uses them as described:

Host permissions (<all_urls>) | Allow captures on any website you choose to capture from. |
8. Children's privacy
Memspace is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Memspace after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
